The Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old man, Osita John and 27-year-old Achewa Musa on the gruesome murder of 43-year-old Azubuike Ekwuegbalu in his resident at the Commissioner’s quarters Awka.
Recall that Mr Azubuike, a native of Ogbunike in Oyi LGA of Anambra State, was murdered on the 9th of August, 2020, Police detectives quickly swung into action and after intensive investigation arrested two principal suspects.
According to the Police Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, the suspects, who are from Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum LGA and Abinsel of Guma LGA of Benue State respectively, were arrested after extensive monitoring and ‘voluntary confession’ of crime by scaling through the fence of the deceased and stabbing him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets.
“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects includes the two android phones belonging to the victim and one knife allegedly used in perpetrating the heinous act.
Following establishment of prima facie case against the suspects, they were today Tuesday 10/11/2020, charged to Court and subsequently remanded.”
However, the Commissioner of Police, John B.Abang, FDC once again ‘reiterated that there is no hiding place for Criminals in Anambra State and that the Command under his watch will continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the State.’
