The new general manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA Comrade Eze Okwulehie has revealed the preparedness of the agency to make Abia a pride of place in terms of environmental cleanliness.
This, he said would be achieved through depositing refuse disposal baskets along the streets/roads in the state to guide passersby drop their refuse at the nearest one which will also be carted away within the shortest period.
The ASEPA GM who was speaking to a cross-section of Journalists in Umuahia pointed out that Abia, particularly the state capital – Umuahia should always wear a clean and green appearance and vowed to turn around the environmental story of the capital city and its environs as well as leave enough indelible footprint on the sands of time.
Comrade Okwulehie revealed that the agency will soon set up a task force that will ensure strict compliance to the directives handed down in the agency’s bid to rid the streets of dirt, just as he enjoined Abia residents to imbibe the habits of keeping their environment clean.
His words, “We want Abians as law-abiding citizens to help us see to the success of this project. We want Abians to assist us to move to a greater level of cleanliness”.
