The Government Secondary School girls abducted by bandits in the Jangebe area of Zamfara State have regained their freedom after four days.
According to the report, the girls arrived at the government house at Gusau at 5 am on Tuesday on a bus.
Receiving them, the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle told them to take their ordeal in good faith and that the enemies would be shamed.
The 317 schoolgirls were kidnapped on Friday from their school in the early hours of the morning with one of the students killed.
Announcing the release, Governor Matawalle wrote, “Alhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe.”
The government has not revealed it’s involvement in their rescue and Islamic cleric Sheikh Gumi Ahmed, who is from Zamfara State, has been silent.
