The Former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has withdrawn from the governorship primaries election of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in favour of a consensus candidate of the party.
In a letter on Wednesday, Hon. Ihedioha revealed that his withdrawal was to heed the call for a consensus candidate by the National Working Committee of the party.
He thanked his supporters who will be disappointed by his action and called for their understanding, particularly the electorates who have aligned themselves with his vision for the State.
Hon. Ihedioha served as a Governor after winning the election in 2019 but was ousted by the decision of the Supreme Court one year after for Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress, APC, who came 4th in the March 9 2019 election.
