The immediate past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji FNSE has described Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu’s recent statement about the 7th Assembly as having engaged in a jamboree as unfortunate especially considering the fact that Kalu was also a Member of the said Assembly.
Rt Hon Chinedum Orji in a statement issued last night advised his predecessor to hide his face in shame as he has no moral justification to compare his tenure as Speaker to that of any other Speaker that has served in that Assembly.
Rt Hon Chinedum Orji challenged his predecessor, Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu on just five areas so as to elicit a “non jamboree” response from him as Rt Hon Chinedum Orji and most of his colleagues were serious minded lawmakers who had no time to join him on that irresponsible lifestyle.
- Did Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu leave the assembly complex and Speaker’s lodge
better than he met it?
If he did let him show Abians with pictorial evidence.
- He should mention acclaimed Bills, both for social and economic development, passed into Law under his leadership as Speaker.
- He should explain how
a “death trap” erected in the name of a building in the assembly complex under his leadership which also stopped after window level cost over N300m yet cannot be completed even by the current Speaker. - What happened to all the items including furniture etc bought with taxpayers’ money at the Speaker’s lodge at the end of his tenure?
- What really transpired at the twilight of the tenure of the 7th assembly with respect to his role in collecting monetary inducement to change the house rules?
The former Speaker has advised his predecessor to be reminded of the fact that he who lives in a glass house does not throw stones and that gratitude should be a virtue.
