Eze Eberechukwu Calls for Release of Nnamdi Kanu

Eze Dr Eberechukwu Kanu Oji, the newly crowned traditional ruler of Arochukwu Kingdom in Arochukwu LGA, Abia State has called on the Federal government of Nigeria to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from his prolonged detention.

He made the appeal at the Coronation Celebration Ceremony held at the Civic Centre, Oror Arochukwu on the 27th of July, 2024 stating that this will give the Igbo ethnic group a sense of belonging and inclusivity in the Nigerian dream.

“The Igbo People, with their remarkable contributions and rich cultural heritage deserve a central place at the heart of our nation’s development. The release of Nnamdi Kanu will be in the interest of promoting peace and justice in Nigeria.”

Eze Eberechukwu stated that he aspires to see the full development and integration of the entire Igbo nation within the Nigerian Federation.

The 9th Eze Aro who stated that he is committed to fostering unity and an inclusive environment, pointed out that collaboration and mutual support across the Eastern Nigeria land will unlock potentials that lie within every Igbo community.

Eze Eberechukwu also appreciated the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for gracing the occasion, spiritual leaders and other dignitaries and urged all Umu Aro to join hands to write a new chapter in the history of Aro Kingdom.

Appreciating the Umu Aro from the Kingdom and Diaspora, Eze Eberechukwu reminded all indigenes that the throne belongs to everyone while emphasising unity and growth.

Ably present as Eze Eberechukwu was coronated as the King of Aro Kingdom following a rigorous traditional selection were the Eze Ibom Isii, Eze Agwu, Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency Ibe Okwara Osonwa, founder of Daily Times, Fidelis Anosike, Professor Godwin Emezue, Prof Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Dr Azubuike Okoro, Prof Zulu Ofoelue, Mayor of Arochukwu LGA Joe Ezearu, Emir of Zamfara, traditional rulers from different communities and States, Mayors of LGAs, Commissioners and political figures, and other dignitaries.
