The Kebbi State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the actions of a group called Lakurawa, accused of terrorizing communities in Sokoto and Kebbi States.

Recently, this group killed 15 local security volunteers (Yansakai) in Mera Town, located in the Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
MACBAN also condemned a reprisal attack carried out by the Yansakai against the local Fulani population. The group is accused of extorting forced taxes (zakkat) and seizing livestock from pastoralists.
The Association urged authorities to provide immediate support to those affected by these recent reprisals and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
Additionally, MACBAN clarified that it has no connection to Lakurawa and is negatively impacted by the group’s actions in Mera Town, Augie Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
MACBAN also condemned a reprisal attack by the Yansakai on local Fulani people, saying the group is accused of terrorizing pastoralists by demanding forced taxes (zakkat) and seizing livestock.
The Association urged authorities to provide immediate support to those affected by the recent reprisals and to hold the criminals accountable.
It clarified that MACBAN has no connection to Lakurawa and suffers from the group’s actions as well.
A week ago, the Defence Headquarters had alerted the nation of the existence of another terrorist group called Lakurawa, with a presence in North West; the terror group had killed 15 people in Mera in Kebbi State and rustled over a hundred cattle.
