NSCDC Nabs Two Crude Oil Thieves, Recovers Pipeline Equipment

Two crude oil has been nabbed by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for tampering with a crude oil pipeline and stealing over 100,000 litres of oil in Abia State.

40-year-old Chukwuekpe Okeke and 31-year-old Kingsley Madubuachi Cornelius were arrested on February 14, 2025, after a tip-off led the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad to the scene.

Upon arrival, the squad discovered a massive storage of stolen crude oil, carefully packaged in cellophane nylons. The oil was estimated to be around 100,000 litres, illicitly acquired through tampering with the pipeline and connecting long hoses to channel the oil into a hidden pit reservoir.

The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, and exhibits recovered from them include: Pipeline Equipment: 4-8 inch pipes, plastic buckets, and valves used to control the oil supply, Personal Items: Slippers belonging to suspects who fled the scene, a magnetic Tecno phone button, and a Legend XYM SYM motorcycle.
