The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration NAFDAC has discovered vaccines for yellow fever, Measles, anti-tetanus and others hidden under a staircase.
“Yesterday at the Idumota Drug Market, NAFDAC officials discovered a stash of vaccines, including Yellow Fever, Dano Anti-Tetanus, Measles, and Diphtheria vaccines, hidden under a staircase.”
In a statement shared on its official page on Friday, it said the suspect was supplying the products to neighbouring country Liberia.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was supplying these products to neighbouring West African countries like Liberia.”
While revealing that the suspect is in its custody, it mentioned that the premises were equipped with CCTV, which monitors movement in and around the area.
“The premises were equipped with CCTV cameras, suggesting active monitoring. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in detention,” the statement concludes.
Similarly, the agency uncovered more alarming products at the Idumota open drug market including unregistered narcotics, counterfeit GSK medicines, and vaccines stored in toilets.
The products include; banned drugs such as Analgin, vaccines meant for cold chain storage, oxytocin for maternal health, improperly stored outside the cold chain and donated medical products.
