Four Suspects in Custody Over Murder of Site Engineer

The Delta State Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Chigozie Udalor, a site engineer, who was killed by his employees after they discovered he had a substantial amount of money in his bank account.

In a statement released by the police, SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Command, detailed that the investigation began after a report was filed on December 12, 2024, by Hyacinth Nnalue, the cousin of the deceased.

Nnalue reported that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since December 10, 2024 and that Udalor was employed as the site manager for a fish pond in the Bod Camp area of Akwukwu Igbo community.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Akwukwu Igbo division initiated an investigation. The case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further analysis. Under the guidance of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, DPO Ekpan, CSP Aliyu Shaba, directed a specialized and detailed investigation into the case.

On March 31, 2025, police operatives arrested David Tacho, one of the suspects, who had attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s bank account using the victim’s phone. Further investigation led to the arrest of Daniel Orshio, who was implicated in the crime. The investigation revealed that both David Tacho and Daniel Orshio, along with two other suspects, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel, were involved in conspiring to murder Udalor after discovering the large sum of money in his Moniepoint account.

The four suspects had all been employed by Udalor, and after learning about his finances, they planned the murder. The crime was carried out when the suspects used a hammer to strike Udalor on the head, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the work site.

While David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are currently in police custody, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel remain at large. The body of the deceased has been exhumed for an autopsy, and efforts to apprehend the remaining fugitives are ongoing.
