Controversial Media Personality Kemi Olunloyo Disowns Family Amid Explosive Allegation

Controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo has publicly severed ties with the Olunloyo family, following the death of her father, former Oyo State Governor Victor Omololu Olunloyo, who passed away on April 6 at the age of 89.

In a series of candid Facebook and TikTok posts, Kemi made it clear she would not be mourning her father nor accepting condolences, citing years of emotional and physical trauma allegedly inflicted by him. “I am NOT part of the Olunloyo family anymore,” she wrote. “I said in 2024 that I will never return to Nigeria, even if my parents died.”

Kemi described a stark contrast between the man the public revered and the father she knew behind closed doors. “He was two different people, one to the world, and one to us,” she said. “He tortured us as children, destroyed the family unit, and used me emotionally. He painted me as his favourite, but I was far from it.”

Though she claimed to have forgiven her father, Kemi detailed a troubling family history, accusing him of engaging in occult practices and alleging that these dark influences contributed to long-standing family pain and even the tragic death of her brother’s child.

“I am uploading video statements on my father’s death on TikTok. I am NOT part of the Olunloyo family anymore and told you that in 2024 I will never return to Nigeria even if my parents died.”

In one of the videos she shared after, she partly said: “I am not accepting anybody’s condolences because I am not condoling with anybody. If you want to condole with my father on his death or his family, you need to go to Facebook.com/omololuolunloyo.

Although she claimed she had forgiven the former Governor, she said: “I have forgiven my Dad for everything he did.”

She added: “You don’t know what’s going on in my family and I don’t know what’s going on in your family.

“My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo is two different people. He was one person to the world; he was another person to the family. My father destroyed our family unit; my father tortured us as kids. He tortured us emotionally and physically. My father ruined the family unit.

“My father marketed me as his favourite daughter and child to the world; he also marketed himself to me as that. But I was far from being his favourite. My father used me for a lot of things. My father did a lot for all of us. When I said he used me, he took advantage of my own positive energies.

“My father was into ‘juju’ heavily. My father was into occult practices and I called my father out on his 80th birthday. After I called him out, he went to Pastor E. An Adeboye that he wanted to become born-again, and he did.

“I know that I’m special and I know what God brought me here for. They wanted to kill my story, but they didn’t, but they killed Tayo; they killed my brother’s child. My brother, who died at 51, was in the ‘Ali Must Go’ car with me; remember, he lost about half of his brain, was paralysed for 43 years, and lived with seizures and no livelihood. Tayo was buried after he died in 2021. Tayo would have been a great Mathematician. They ruined his destiny.

“My mother married an intellectual, a man who got his PhD at 26 years old. And he turned into a polygamist. Not that polygamists are not good, but the way it happened to my family.”

She also recounted how her late brother, Tayo, suffered irreversible brain damage in a tragic accident, living with seizures for over four decades before his death in 2021. “They killed Tayo’s story. He could’ve been a brilliant mathematician,” she lamented.

Kemi traced the roots of the family’s fragmentation to her father’s relationship with Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo, formerly Ronke Sonaike. She alleged that the late politician began an affair with Sonaike during his 1983 governorship campaign—an affair that would later lead to marriage and, according to Kemi, a devastating blow to her mother.

Kemi’s statements have reignited discussions around the legacy of Victor Olunloyo, remembered publicly as a brilliant mathematician and political figure, but now also cast in the harsh light of private family discord.
