Abia Assembly Passes Start-up Bill to Empower Youth and Boost Tech Innovation
The Abia State House of Assembly has passed the Abia State Start-up Bill (H.A.B. 32) in a major step toward youth empowerment and digital economic growth.
Speaking at the International Youth Day on Tuesday, the Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa stated that the bill is designed to support young tech innovators, create jobs, and position Abia as a leading destination for digital businesses in Nigeria.
He congratulated the youth of Abia State and emphasised the importance of the bill in unlocking their potential.
“You are the future of our state, and we believe in your talent and energy. That is why we passed the Abia State Start-up Bill, a new law to help young tech innovators and create jobs,” he stated.
According to Emeruwa, the bill will attract investors, stimulate economic growth, and provide a supportive environment for digital entrepreneurship. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Assembly’s vision of building a modern and opportunity-rich Abia.
“This law will make Abia a top place for digital business in Nigeria, bring more investors, and grow our economy,” he added.
While awaiting assent from the state governor, Dr. Alex Otti, the Speaker urged young people to prepare themselves to take full advantage of the opportunities the bill will unlock.
“As your Speaker, I encourage you to use the opportunity, learn new skills, and lead the way in technology and innovation once it is signed into law by our dear governor,” Emeruwa said.
