A disturbing video has shown members of Operation Udo Ga-Achi popularly known as Agunechemba Vigilante Group in Anambra State beating and harassing a member of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC identified as Jennifer Edema Elohor.

In a viral video seen by Newsleverage, the Vigilante Group stripped Jennifer naked, beat and harassed her even as she tried to escape their vindictive beating and verbal abuse.

It was gathered that the group was allegedly in the pursuit of ‘yahoo boys’, which led them to the corpers lodge. The corps members presented their NYSC identification cards and uniforms as proof, but the group persisted with the assault.

Meanwhile, Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, appearing on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, stated that the government wasted no time in addressing the matter once it was reported, as it invited the corps member with NYSC officials to listen to the account of the incident.

“The operatives were on the trail of some suspected cultists riding on motorcycles when they pursued them into a compound.

“In the process of searching the houses in line with their mandate, the unfortunate incident involving the corps member occurred.

“While they were acting within the law, their conduct in that instance was unacceptable,” he said.

“Immediately the incident happened, we arrested the operatives involved and placed them in detention.

“Our practice is to first carry out preliminary investigations, bring in the victims and complainants, and then determine whether the matter warrants internal disciplinary action or prosecution,” he stated.

“Our conclusion is that while the operatives were on a legitimate assignment, how they acted was not acceptable.

“We have made that very clear, and disciplinary measures are being taken,” he added.
