NAFDAC Takes Delivery of ₦24.6m Illicit Drugs Seized by Customs
To combat the trafficking of illegal pharmaceuticals, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken custody of a consignment of smuggled, unregistered, and illicit pharmaceutical products intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service.
To combat the trafficking of illegal pharmaceuticals, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken custody of a consignment of smuggled, unregistered, and illicit pharmaceutical products intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service.

The handover took place at the Federal Operations Unit “A” of the Customs Service, where the Director of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Pharm. Shaba Mohammed received the consignment.
The intercepted drugs included banned Tramadol 250mg in unapproved pack sizes, smuggled into the country by suspected traffickers.


The seizure, valued at ₦24.6 million, also included the handover of a suspect to NAFDAC for further investigation and potential prosecution.
NAFDAC commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its vigilance and ongoing support in protecting public health and upholding regulatory standards.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating substandard and falsified medicines from circulation in Nigeria.
