Tinubu Presents ₦58.47 Trillion 2026 Budget with Focus on Security, Infrastructure, Education
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented a ₦58.47 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year, outlining key spending priorities aimed at strengthening national security, boosting infrastructure development, and improving social services.

According to the budget details, the Federal Government plans to allocate ₦5.41 trillion to defence and security.
Infrastructure development is earmarked to receive ₦3.56 trillion, while the education sector is proposed to get ₦3.52 trillion. The health sector is allocated ₦2.48 trillion.
The proposed budget shows a significant emphasis on capital spending, with ₦26.08 trillion set aside for capital expenditure to drive economic growth and development. Recurrent non-debt expenditure is projected at ₦15.25 trillion, covering salaries, overheads, and the running of government institutions.
President Tinubu also outlined the key economic assumptions underpinning the 2026 budget. These include a crude oil benchmark price of US$64.85 per barrel and an average daily crude oil production of 1.84 million barrels per day. The exchange rate is projected at ₦1,400 to the US dollar.
The President said the assumptions were carefully chosen to reflect current economic realities while supporting fiscal stability and growth.
He expressed confidence that the proposed budget would help consolidate economic reforms, enhance service delivery, and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
