Government says it will continue to make the welfare of pensioners in the state its priority.
The Governor,Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu who made this known when he received in audience the executive members of Blind senior citizens Association of Nigeria, Abia state Chapter who visited him in his office, described the visit as one in the right direction and advised them not to allow their challenge deter them from actualising their goals in life and destiny.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, explained that Government is poised at meeting with the needs of its citizenry.
He made it clear that Government has approved the payment of gratuity to pensioners in the state beginning with members of the blind senior citizens association who have received part payment of their gratuity and assured that adequate steps will be taken to ensure that the remaining part of the gratuity will be paid soonest while
those yet to receive theirs will be taken care of in the second phase.
He advised them to always remain law abiding and continue to support the present administration.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team,chief Ifegwu Joseph who spoke through Mr Amadi Jonathan said the visit was to thank and appreciate Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the part payment of their gratuity describing this as a show of his compassion commitment and love for the welfare of Abians
He assured their continued support and loyalty to the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration.
The visit featured presentation of a plague to the Governor’s representative.
