Aaron Uzodike has been inaugurated as the representative of Aba North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly after a prolonged struggle.
This was confirmed by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Emeruwa, during the House plenary session on August 13th.
On November 27th, 2023, the court nullified the election of Honourable Destiny Nwangwu. The court ordered the immediate withdrawal of the certificate of return that was previously issued to the LP candidate.
Additionally, the court declared Mr. Uzodike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the election and further instructed INEC to issue a fresh certificate of return to the PDP candidate.
According to the reports, the Speaker postponed Mr Uzosike’s inauguration without specifying the reason for the indefinite postponement.
Meanwhile, the members of the PDP had accused Speaker Emeruwa of illegally postponing the inauguration of Mr Uzosike despite a contrary decision by the Court of Appeal.
