DPO Redeployed, Policemen Face Trial Over Illegal Detention of Tunde Abass
The Lagos State Police Command has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Francis Ani, over the illegal detention of Tunde Abass who was arrested for recording police brutality in Onipanu.

The Lagos State Police Command has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Francis Ani, over the illegal detention of Tunde Abass who was arrested for recording police brutality in Onipanu.
Abbas was arrested on the 19th of March, 2021 for filming policemen harassing innocent motorist. He was tortured, dehumanized by police officers in Onipanu and refused bail after he was granted bail.
Activist took to the street to protest over the abuse of right and inhumane treatment which led to his freedom.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, also redeployed the boys of CSP Francis Ani, over the illegal detention of Tunde Abass and Kabir Mohammed on Friday, 19th March 2021.
The statement reads, “Tunde Abass was alleged by the police at Onipanu Division for recording the harassment and forceful arrest of Kabir Mohammed at Onipanu Area of the State on Friday 19th March 2021 at about 5 pm after Tunde intervenes in the case which did not go well with the policemen. The police boss decided on Wednesday, 24th March 2021, after he perused the report of the investigation into the incident that had gone viral on the gross violation of Tunde’s human rights by the DPO and his boys.”
CP Odumosu also ordered an orderly room trial for all the policemen involved in the gross abuse of human rights and appropriate punishment given to them.
“The Commissioner of Police has therefore condemned such act of unprofessionalism and excessive use of power to send a signal to the whole world that the command will not, for whatever reason, condone such act; and to serve as a deterrent to other policemen who are fond of harassing, extorting and engaging in acts of lawlessness, unprofessionalism and gross violation of peoples human rights in the state. CP Hakeem Odumosu has also ordered that the concerned policemen in the unprofessional act be tried orderly room to award punishments accordingly, while the DPO be redeployed to the State Command Headquarters,
Ikeja.
