Rivers Assembly Issues Notice of ‘Gross Misconduct’ Against Governor Fubara and Deputy

The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a notice of “gross misconduct” against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu. This action follows the ongoing dispute between the Governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Martins Wachukwu, the special assistant on media to Martin Amaewhule, the speaker of the Rivers Assembly, conveyed this information to the press.

Governor Fubara has made several attempts to re-present the 2025 Budget after initially presenting a budget of N1.1 trillion to a state assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, who is loyal to him, back in December.

On Friday, March 14, the State Assembly announced that it would be going on an indefinite recess, shortly after the Governor made a request for a date to re-present the budget.

It is important to note that on February 28, the Supreme Court upheld a ruling by a federal high court, which barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Accountant-General of the Federation from releasing statutory monthly allocations to Rivers State.
