There’s Need To Differentiate Between Professionals From Witch Hunters – Hon. Ude Ukochukwu Says

The Online Media Practitioners of Abia State visited the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Hon. Ude Ukochukwu at the government house in Umuahia, Abia State.

The president of the association, Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo stated clearly that online media have taken over the basis of information in the world and so should be equipped in order to censor the news which gets distributed to the general public. In order to do this, the association needed an office complex, vehicle, censorship and cooperate relationship to work with the government as individuals.

In response, the deputy governor thanked the association saying that it was a step towards the right direction. In his words, he said ” when the government of the day and organization come together, it begets the best for the State. Online media has become the panacea of information in the State as news are shared through all social media especially Facebook and Whatsapp.

But nevertheless, we need to differentiate between the real practitioners/ professionals and witch hunters. Talking about censorship, information needs to be censored before it gets to the public which can do more harm than good. We will partner with you and meet these challenges you mentioned.”

Also present at the meeting was the Commissioner of Information, Chief J.O.K, Mr Mascot Imo Obike, Dr. Chris Nwagbuoso, Mr Bernard Ogbonna and other delegations of the Online media practitioners.
