Chief Kelvin Jombo Joins APC, Says ‘Abiriba is APC’

Businessman and CEO of Sumblime Group of Companies Chief Kelvin Jombo has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that his decision aims to promote the party’s interests in the Abiriba community. He expressed gratitude to the party leaders for the opportunity given to him.

At a gathering held at Abiriba Stadium on Friday, January 10, 2025, Jombo emphasized that the purpose of his defection was to bring the dividends of democracy to Abiriba, Ohafia, Arochukwu, and the entire Abia North region while also enhancing the representation of the people.

Chief Ikechi Anya also spoke at the event, describing his defection as the beginning of a new era for Abiriba, stating, “I was once blind, but now I can see clearly.”

During his welcome address, APC State Chairman Dr. Kingsley Ononiwu highlighted the party’s desire for unity, a vision first championed by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who welcomed everyone in attendance as new members of the party.

Chief Emma Nwosu contributed by noting that the peace-building efforts initiated by Senator Kalu have fostered unity. He greeted the defectors warmly and expressed confidence that the party would achieve electoral success in 2027, urging everyone to join hands to ensure the party’s triumph.

Other party leaders, including Honourable Prince Obasi Obaa, Chief George Nnanna Kalu, and Mrs. Nnenna Obewu Onwuka, assured the attendees that voting for their candidates would guarantee the delivery of democracy’s benefits. They emphasized that the party does not contest elections it is not confident of winning and pledged their full support to Chief Jombo for success in the upcoming elections.

Furthermore, they underscored that any election conducted without women is deemed incomplete and commended the party for actively involving women in politics at the state level.

The event was attended by numerous APC leaders from Ohafia LGA, including LGA Chairman Coach Uche Okwara, Co-Chairman Prince Emma Nwosu, Chief Ndubuisi Emeh, Zonal Woman Leader Honourable Mrs. Ada Ogbuagu, and many other notable personalities such as Mrs Joy Agwara, Chief Sunday Ifeigbo, Chief Orji Obaa, Madam Urenna Okocha Nwankwo, Marysunday Eleanya, Honourable Otuwe Orji Kalu, Mr Kalu Umeh, Honourable Abacha, Honourable Wilson Eze, and High Chief Uche Ogboso.
