Abia Gubernatorial 2027: Old Bende Vanguard for Good Governance Urges Chief Ikoh to Contest

The Old Bende Vanguard For Good Governance is calling on the former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, to contest for the upcoming 2027 Governorship election in Abia State, citing his potential to deliver good governance.

This development comes as no surprise, given the growing calls for Ikoh to contest the election. In fact, a civil society organization, Abia-17, has also been advocating for his candidacy, emphasizing the need for credible leadership in Abia State.

In lending their voice to these trending calls, the old Bende Vanguard For Good Governance maintained that Chief Ikoh’s antecedents and track records when he was a minister speak volumes of him.

His developmental and philanthropic gestures towards his community and Abia State, in general, propelled them to root for him.

Speaking, the Chairman of the group, Hon Ukaegbu Kanu and the secretary, Dr. Mrs. Vivian Njikoye stated that Chief Ikoh’s political aspirations aren’t new to them as he has been a potential candidate for various offices. However, now it appears that his focus MUST shift towards the governorship position, they will support him with full weight.

With this recent endorsement from this well-known group and others lining up to woo him, should he accept the invitation to run, all these will be a significant boost to his campaign as the coast is now almost cleared for him.

According to the group, Ikoh has a strong political background, having served as a Commissioner for Industry in Abia State, as Honourable Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and currently serving as the Chairman of the governing council of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, His experience and leadership skills make him an attractive candidate for the governorship position.
