The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old “Almajiri School” teacher, Ma’aruf Muhammad for severely beating an 8-year-old Muhammad Garba.
It was gathered that the suspect who hails from Garbi Quarters, Nguru LGA, Yobe State but was found at a hideout in Toro LGA, Bauchi State uses a USB Cable wire to beat the victim on several occasions after removing his shirt.
Luck ran out when one Mallam Usaini Uba of Kofar Na’isa Quarters, Kano brought the boy who was found roaming around a culvert, near Kofar Mata Quarters Kano, with scar marks all over his body resulting from suspected torture to the Managing Director Kano State Agency for Evacuation and Repatriation of Beggars on the 28th of March 2022.
According to the Police spokesman Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Mallam Usaini reached out to the police on the 29th of March 2022 which led the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, of raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Umar Sa’id Abdullahi to carry out an extensive investigation on the case.
The victim who was rushed to the hospital for medical attention revealed that he escaped to Kano State by Train as a result of severe beatings by his teacher after he was handed over by his 65-year-old grandmother Talle Muhammad.
The police have also revealed that the grandmother and the father of the victim have been arrested and will be charged in court with the suspect.
