Nigeria singer, Jemiriye Adeniji, who was one of the contestants in the season 2 of the Nigerian Idol music reality show in 2011/2012 was recently seen standing on the same platform alongside top US personalities to address residents of Pittsburg over the Tree Of Life Synagogue shooting in the state.
Some of the notable personalities includes; the Mayor Of Pittsburgh, Bill Peduto; Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf; Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks, and Allegheny Council Executive, Fitz Gerald.
At the event, Jemiriye also performed her version of “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”, while she also made the Pittsburgh Mayor try beating the talking drum.
Jemiriye who will be remembered for her Afrocentric style of music and fashion while on Nigerian Idols, relocated to Pittsburgh, United State shortly after she was booted out of the reality show and has been practicing her music there, traveling all over the world to perform at various festivals.
The Osun state born songbird in 2015 was in the news when she performed during the Philadelphia Phillies vs Miami Marlin’s baseball game delivering a beautiful rendition of the baseball anthem, “Take me out to the Ballgame” to a stadium filled with thousands of baseball fans.
Televised live at the Citizens Bank Park Stadium, Philadelphia, the game marked the 42nd anniversary of the death of late baseball great, Jackie Robinson, and Jemiriye is believed to be the first Black African to perform at the game.
