Following a celebration party, a man raped his mother in Ukraine to celebrate his jail release, police say.
The suspect of 42, Vitaliy, supposedly assaulted his mom in her bedroom while she was asleep.
Vitaliy allegedly served a jail sentence for beating a man to death, but was released in May and moved to Abramivka to visit his mom.
The 62-year-old mother rejoiced at the return of her son and threw a party at the house to celebrate, but it is said that she was attacked later that day.
Vitaliy was arrested after hiding in a field and could face five further years in prison if he is found guilty of rape, while his mother said she ‘cannot treat him as my son anymore’.
She told local media: ‘Some of his friends came to the party. We had some drink. Everything seemed to be okay.
‘But in the evening, after the guests left, he attacked me.’
After saying goodbye to her guests, the mother went to bed and fell asleep, it is claimed – but hours later Vitaliy broke into his mother’s bedroom and abused her.
When she realized what her son was up to, she tried to resist, but Vitaliy allegedly beat her and raped her.
According to the victim, whose house is on the outskirts of the village, she called for help but nobody heard her screams.
After the attack, she reported her son to the police.
She said: ‘I was afraid for my life and decided not to be silent. I do not want to be regularly raped at my own home.
‘I cannot treat him as my son anymore.’
Vitaliy, who fled the scene and tried to hide in a field, was found and arrested.
Police spokesman Yury Sulaev said: ‘The suspect was charged with rape and taken into custody. He faces up to five years in prison if found guilty. The investigation is ongoing.’
The residents of the village were terrified after learning about the incident.
Local Svitlana Grechka said: ‘We cannot believe that such a wild incident occurred in our calm small village.’
There are 240 inhabitants in the village, local media report.
