The Executive of the Nigerian Bar Association led by Paul Usoro has stated that the dis-invitation of Governor Nasir El-Rufai as it’s guest speaker has no religious or ethnic connotation as most of the people against the decision are of the same faith with him.
In a statement made available to clarify it’s the stance and wade off the media attention which has followed the invitation of the Governor stating that neither the NBA nor the NEC belongs to any religious party.
Rather, as the letter reads, they are ‘lawyers and professionals dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Rule of Law and belong to one indivisible family of the NBA.’
He also implored its members to not view its decision with an ethnic or religious perspective as those were not the issues used in taking a decision on the matter.
Recall that there has been an uproar on social media when the NBA invited Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a guest speaker at its 2020 conference.
He was dis-invited due to the negativity that trailed the invitation even though many people have attributed the withdrawal of invite as an ethnic and religious fight from a section of the country.
