Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has promised to ensure urgent renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium and equipe it with state of the art sporting equipments to bring back its lost glory.
Uzodimma made this promise during an inspection visit he paid to the stadium to ascertain the level of ongoing renovation work there.
He said when fully renovated and upgraded, the stadium will offer an opportunity for Imo people to entertain themselves.
“We are going round now to monitor and supervise the activities of various contractors, with the view to ensuring that the projects are being executed according to design and contract specifications”.
On the preparedness of Heartland football club for the league, starting from 6th December, the governor said, “I am already in touch with the league management committee. We are going to start our early matches with Okigwe stadium and as soon as this place is ready we come over to Dan Anyiam Stadium and we have already secured the approval from the league management committee.
“What we are trying to do is starting with Urban renewal programme which I am sure that the roads are all back to track. We are trying to give a facelift to all the critical infrastructures in the state, particularly within the Owerri metropolis.
“We are also trying to reinvent the spirit of sportsmanship in every Imo person and this stadium is very critical to it”. The governor submitted.
