In an attempt to send President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria, Nigerians in the United Kingdom have staged a protest out outside the residence of the President.
Recall that Buhari travelled to the United Kingdom on Tuesday for a routine medical check-up, two days to an indefinite strike by Nigerian doctors over unpaid salaries and poor working conditions.
The initiator of the protest, Reno Omokri, who was an aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan during his administration, urged Nigerians with a valid identity card to come out and protest over the President’s sojourn for medical treatment.
Reno argued that the President has no reason to travel to the UK when he couldn’t fix health care systems in Nigeria for the countless citizens who couldn’t afford to travel out of the country for medical care.
Nigerians filled the Abuja House 2 Campden Hill, Kensington, London W8 7AD, on Friday where the protest.
There was resistance from the Federal Government of Nigeria who called the police in London to stop the protest.
But after interviewing the convener, Reno, they revealed that the protesters were not breaking any law and were also observing the COVID-19 guidelines.
The police officers formed a protection for the protesters as they peacefully exercise their constitutional rights.
