The management of the University of Calabar, Cross River State has suspended the Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Cyril Ndifon over sexual exploitation and misconduct.
This comes after female students of the Faculty of Law protested over the high rate of sexual harassment by the lecturer and advised that he leave them alone.
In a letter signed by the Public Relations Unit of the Institution, Vice Chancellor Professor Florence Obi stated that she was unsatisfied with the response to the query given to Professor Ndifon and relieved him of his position.
She also mandated he hand over to the Sub-dean of the University while stating that a panel will be set up to investigate the allegations and directed that Professor Ndifon stays away from the University premises unless honoring an invitation by the panel.
In 2016, Professor Ndifon was accused of raping a student and was suspended by the University’s authority but he was later reinstated.
