Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the Petroleum And Natural Gas Senior Staff Association Of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to ensure a proper servicing of Aba Depot to make available all petroleum products to users at all time.
Governor Ikpeazu who made the call when he received the Executive Members Of Petroleum And Natural Gas Senior Staff Association Of Nigeria on a courtesy visit to him at Government House Umuahia lamented the scarcity of some petroleum products at the Aba Depot, which serves Abia and neighbouring States, maintained that as an oil-producing State, Government is determined to collaborate and support PENGASSAN to succeed.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, said the present administration in the bid to sustain the rating of Abia as one of the safest states in the federation will be creating the Ministry Of Home Land Security to further attract investors and industrialists while the promotion of made in Aba, Abia and Nigeria goods will be given adequate patronage by encouraging artisans and SMEs to sustain the high quality of products to meet with international standard.
He noted that the Enyimba Economic City location in Ukwa East, Ukwa West and Ugwunagbo was in a bid to develop them to modern cities as oil-producing LGAs while Government set up the five cardinal pillars to build a new Abia based on areas of comparative advantage like Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Oil and Gas, Education and others.
The State Chief Executive further said that Government will continue to embark on massive rehabilitation and construction of roads leading to agrarian communities and pledged to support PENGASSAN her R Library and Event centre.
Earlier in his speech the President of PENGASSAN, Mr Nduka Ohaeri lauded Governor Ikpeazu administration efforts at making the State safe and peaceful, patronage of made in Aba goods,revamping of Golden Guniea among other and urged Govt to pay more attention on road maintenance, waste management and making oi producing areas of Ukwa modern cities.
Mr Ohaeri further stated that they are in the State to collaborate with the State Govt to assist them to construct a befitting E-Learning Library and Centre for research on oil and gas which is geared towards providing employment and generating revenue for the State and Nation.
