The Senator representing Abia South senatorial district, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has called for the resignation of the Government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari over the height of insecurity in the country.
He said this at the plenary sessions in National Assembly on Wednesday in Abuja saying that the government has lived on propaganda for a very long time.
He recalled that when the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN complain about the killing of their leader, Lawan Andimi, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said that CAN was now a political party.
Abaribe said, “when CAN complain about the killing of Lawan Andimi, Femi Adesina said they were now a political party. Now that we are talking about it here, is he going to call all of us a political party? Those who live by propaganda will die by propaganda.”
“We hear every day that Boko Haram has been defeated, Nigeria is now safer. But everything was done so that the hard work that was supposed to have been done in securing Nigeria was not done because certain people did not do their work and preferred to feed Nigerians propaganda.
“All the time we wasted trying to find excuses for non-performance has now come to stare us in the face. Reality is no respecter of any face and it is what we are facing now. Senator Sani Musa has been shouting every day that his people were been killed in Niger State. In Jos, a student was murdered by a Boko Haram person not up to 8-year-old in full view of everybody and we are being told that they have been defeated.”
“Nigerians did not elect the Inspector-General of police, the Chief of Staff or the National Security Adviser. Nigerians elected the government of APC in 2015 and 2019. The reason for this is that they continued to tell us that they had the key to security and I agree to that but when you want to deal with a matter, you go to the head. So they should resign if they can no longer do anything to safeguard the country.”
“In conclusion, Nigerians voted a government in power and that government said that ‘if we cannot perform, stone us’ and we are with the stones to stone them because they are no longer performing. That is the solution we are giving.”
Recall that Nigeria has been plagued recently with scores killed by the Boko Haram terrorist group with little or nothing is done to stop them from infiltrating and killing villagers.
