The state Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu says it has become crucial for every Igboman especially those at various leadership positions work towards the realization of the Enyimba Economic City due to its socio-economic and cultural benefits to the Southeast in particular and Nigeria in general.
Governor Ikpeazu who stated this while receiving members of the south-EastCaucus of the House of Representatives led by the Deputy Chief Whip and member representing Isiukwuato /Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Honorable Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, at the Governor’s Lodge Aba, also requested for their support to persuade the federal government to quickly reconstruct the Ikot-Ekpene-Aba Road, Ikot-Ekpene-Umuahia Road and Portharcourt – Aba segment of the Enugu-PH Expressway adding that his administration has made deliberate efforts to deliver several roads infrastructures of top quality that lead into and within the commercial hub of the State as well as rescued some devastating erosion sites even without accessing the Ecological Fund. He stated further that his administration partnered with the federal government to provide an Independent Power Plant to the Ariaria International Market through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The State Chief Executive who described the visit of the federal lawmakers as strategic and epoch-making due to the results it will yield after meeting with their Southeast Governors extolled the leadership of the House Caucus for working in unity towards fighting the common cause of Igbo nation and assured of his support to encourage other Governors in the zone to work in synergy with them.
Earlier in her address, leader of the delegation, Honorable Onyejeocha, informed the Governor that they were in the state to seek ways of working closely with the administration to realize their objectives and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of the State and the southeast region. She applauded the Governor on his developmental strides, especially with road infrastructure and the Enyimba Economic City project and assured of the support of all the members of the National Assembly from the southeast to ensure its early realization.
