The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Rt. Hon Cosmos Ndukwe, has debunked the sale of any form which is purportedly being issued to traders at the Ahia Ohuru market by Aba South Local Government Area authorities for the capturing of data of the traders.
Reacting to the development which has since gone viral, Ndukwe said Abia State Government has not given any approval for such forms to be distributed to traders anywhere in Abia State.
The form whiclch is sold for N1,500 each captures the biometric data of shop owners with their contact at Ahia Ohuru (New Market) Ngwa Road, and was also said to have emanated from Abia State Government.
The traders stated that they were strictly warned to adhere to the rule or face eviction from their shop/sheds which will be taken over by the government.
Speaking with the Honorable Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, he stated that the government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu will never circulate such a form and promised to look into the situation.
He said, ‘I do not know anything about it. I don’t know why they should distribute forms in the market without the Ministry’s approval. I’ll call the market leader and interrogate them further on this. The ministry didn’t issue or authorize the form.’
The Commissioner later called back to say that “The Ngwamata Chairman also denied seeing any form in the market”.
