The Edo State Police Command have paraded six suspects for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a 100 level Microbiology of University of Benin, Edo State, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa, in a church.
The 22-year-old victim was killed in a church in Ihovbe quarters in Benin city. The suspects are Nelson Ogbebor, Akato ValentineMrss. Tina Samuel Mrs Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.
Recall that Uwaila’s death shook the social media as she was raped and killed in a church where she has gone to read in May 2020 when the suspects went into the church, raped and inflicted serious injury on her that eventually led to her death days later in the hospital.
It was gathered from the suspects during the parade that they were contacted by a lady named Mrs Mary Ade who offered them N1 million to carry out the murder for ritual purposes.
The suspects allegedly cleaned the deceased’s blood with a white handkerchief and handed it over to Mrs Mary, they revealed.
The death of Uwaila hit the nation in May which followed a series of protest and complaints made by civil societies, the church and presidency to get to the root of the case and fish out perpetrators.
