Despite criticising Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode has said there was no reason why he should be stopped from being a President of Nigeria in 2023.
FFK stated that the North Central zone has never produced a President and Nigeria needs strong, decisive leadership and a bridge builder.
The North Central Council of the All Progressives Congress, on Thursday, has asked the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to drop his 2023 presidential ambition as the presidency will be going to the southern region of the country.
FFK wrote on Twitter, “The idea that Gov. Yahaya Bello should not run for the Presidency & that the NC zone, which has never produced a democratically-elected President, ought to settle for another position is absurd. Nigeria needs strong & decisive leadership, a generational change & a bridge-builder.”
But on April 5th, 2018, FFK described Yahaya Bello as ‘an accursed slave’ whose mental faculties are non-functional.
Bello had been quoted as saying, “If President Buhari asks me to jump into the fire, I will not hesitate to jump into it.”
Reacting to that, Fani-Kayode said, “When I wrote that this boy was a useful idiot and an accursed slave, some said I was being harsh. Truth is that he is even worse than that. His mental faculties are non-functional.”
In recent times, FFK has been seeing visiting Governor Bello and other APC chieftains while championing his cause of the 2023 presidency and also maintaining that he is still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party even though “he never promised to stay in PDP forever.”
