The Abia State Commissioner for Works, Barrister Bob Chiedozie Ogu has inspected some road projects in Aba to ascertain the level of work done by the contractors.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday, Ogu expressed satisfaction on the progress of work done at Omuma road which is among the roads the state government is constructing with rigid pavement technology, adding that the contractor handling Faulks road has commenced desilting of drains and reconstruction of the failed portions with rigid pavement, stressing that the thickness of the rigid pavements on Omuma and Faulks, will permanently solve the issue of road failure at Faulks Road and Omuma Road.
The commissioner further revealed the government’s determination to recover the gully erosion at Ovom Street Ogbor Hill, Aba to ameliorate the sufferings of those living in that part of the town.
While frowning at the dumping of refuse by residents of Aba into the newly constructed drainages, warned that decisive decision will be taken against the culprits.
Mr Bob also appreciated the efforts of the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for introducing rigid pavement technology in road construction in the State.
A statement shared by the Ministry of Works identified roads visited as Ngwa road through Emelogu Bridge, Ovom gully erosion site, Cemetery Road, Omuma, Port Harcourt Road and Faulks road.
