The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that the commission has nothing to hide and will provide all the documents requested by the Labour Party’s legal team to prosecute its case.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who met with the legal team of the Labour Party on Monday said it discussed the modalities for obtaining the documents.
He said: “INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily.
The Court of Appeal had granted permission to the Labour Party and Peter Obi to inspect the electoral materials of the 25th February presidential election. A ruling that INEC disobeyed.
