The village chief of the Chida community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, John Kwayidami was abducted by suspected kidnappers along with thirteen of his subjects in the early hours of Thursday.
It was gathered that the victims were sleeping outside due to the heat when the kidnappers invaded the community and kidnapped them.
According to City & Crime, an 18-year-old boy identified as Solomon was shot in the leg when he attempted to escape.
Confirming the incident, a resident of Chida, Ishaya Musa said the incident happened on Thursday around 11:34 pm when the kidnappers, wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded the community.
“Unfortunately, a young boy who, out of fear, as a result of the sporadic gunshots, tried to escape was shot in the leg by the kidnappers, and he is currently at the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
Musa said contact was established on Saturday evening when the leader of the kidnappers called the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, the spokeswoman of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the latest kidnapping incident as of the time of filing the report.
