Kuti: Sowore Condemns Police Against Proposed 21 Days Detention

RevolutionNow Activist Omoyele Sowore has condemned prosecutors for ‘institutional and historical grudge’ against musician Seun Kuti who assaulted a police officer on Sunday.

The police, in court on Tuesday, sought to detain the afro beat singer for 21 days disclosing that the officer whom he slapped was in a coma.

“Prosecutors of the Nigerian Police are asking for ex parte order to detain Seun Kuti for 21 days just to obtain his “statement” they also claimed the officer involved in the altercation is now in “coma” after he left Seun’s house and finished writing his report. There is institutional and historical grudge to be settled with the Kutis. They are not seeking justice just want to exact revenge. #Revolutionnow”

Mr Kuti was arrested yesterday after he turned himself in in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.

The Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba had ordered his immediate arrest following the assault on the Police Officer.
