The body parts of the missing 100-level male student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Quadri Salami, have been exhumed by the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday, 6th of December, 2023.
18-year-old Quadri was reported missing by his father at Kemta Police Station on the 14th of November 2023. He stated that Quadri went missing on the 8th of November 2023 and all effort made to trace him has proved abortive.
According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, one of the suspects Akeem Usman who was with the victim’s phone was tracked down and arrested.
Thereafter, a tactical Squad led by the Commissioner of Police Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha went to the shallow grave at Mile 6 in the Ajemo area of Abeokuta where the body parts of the deceased were buried.
In a confessional statement, the suspect mentioned one Ifadowo Niyi, a male who was an accomplice in the crime. He said they slaughtered and dismembered Quadri, and removed his vital organs for ritual purposes.
“Ifadowo went away with Quadri’s head, and his two wrists, and paid the sum of one hundred thousand Naira into AKEEM Usman’s account as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts.”
“The suspects thereafter continued to sell the victim’s other body parts on demand to internet fraudsters and buried the heart, two legs, and flesh inside a plastic rubber for ritual and used the remaining parts for ‘Awure’ a crime against humanity. Amongst their confessional statements, the duo admitted that they have used four other human heads for money rituals known as “Osole”.”
“The suspects are now in the Police headquarters, Eleweran at the SCID for the continuation of the discreet investigation and will be prosecuted.”
Meanwhile, the CP has assured that justice must be served as the team will work to bring all perpetrators to the full wrath of the law.
