Immigration Suspends Personnel Seen in Viral Video Begging for Money

The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS has indefinitely suspended its officer identified as Okpravero C. Ufuoma seen in a viral video titled ‘This is how immigration treats tourists in Nigeria’.

Officer Ufuoma was seen in the viral video shared by Newsleverage begging a tourist for instant financial gratification and never relented even when told he had no cash. He insisted that his debit card can be used.

While condemning the outrageous act which has become a norm at the Airports, the NIS stated that the act of the Assistant Superintendent at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Ikeja, Lagos State does not reflect the ethics of the Service.

It further added that an investigation has been launched and assured its commitment to removing corrupt personnel from the Service.

NIS condemned the disgraceful attitude of the personnel and reminded Nigerians that it was installing electronic gates at all the entrances of the Airports in the country to facilitate smoother travel for passengers.

Recall that Airport personnel have been called out on countless occasions over the begging culture at the Airports.
