IKPEAZU IS CONSCIOUS THAT POWER IS TRANSIENT – John Okiyi Kalu

The Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has stated that the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, is not one of those who tend to forget that they would not be in office till the end of time.

This, he said, is at the core of the Governor’s disposition towards leaving enduring legacies regarding the physical and human development of the State.

The Commissioner made the assertion when he received a team from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategic Development Communications (SDC) who paid him a courtesy call in his office at Umuahia.

In his words, “Governor Ikpeazu does not set targets that are only achievable on annual basis. He ensures that every day, every week and every month counts, so that at the end of an annual cycle he would have recorded a successful year measured against the backdrop of target-specific accomplishments. It is only a leader who understands the anatomy of power that would put self-appraisal mechanisms in place knowing that a tenured stewardship would eventually end in the court of history. This also reflects in his generosity of tolerance and respect for constructive criticism. Like a striker whose eyes are on the ball, he is totally focused on the goals of the focal pillars of his administration”.

Speaking earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategic Development Communications, Hon. Kennedy Onyenma, said that he and his team had come to formally introduce the SDC Unit to the Honourable Commissioner as the head of the government’s media and communications apparatus, and seek his support accordingly.

Hon. Onyenma said that the Governor had set up the SDC Unit in order to enhance information exchange between his office and various MDAs in the State through a re-energized feedback system. He briefed the Commissioner on the operations, milestones and challenges of the SDC Unit.
