The Anambra State Police Command has busted a syndicate operation who allegedly kidnapped and killed a middle-aged man in Okija and buried him in a shallow grave.
The decomposing body of the victim has been dugged up following a manhunt by the police operatives attached the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) on the 5th of August, 2020.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Police Command,
For Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who mentioned their names as; Obasi Faith Ezinne ‘f’ aged 23 years of Mbaitolu Imo State, Ntomchukwu Anabaraonye ‘m’ aged 33 years of Okija and, Abuchi Obinna ‘m’ aged 26 years of Ihiala.
According to the report released by the Anambra State Police Command, the suspects abducted the 34-year-old Henry Okam of Okija in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State and killed the victim with a pump-action gun.
The report reads, ‘Meanwhile, the suspects who voluntarily confessed to the crime, took operatives to a thick forest in Ihiala where the decomposing body of the victim was exhumed and recovered to the mortuary for autopsy after it was certified dead by a medical doctor.
Consequently, the pomp action used by the suspects in perpetuating the heinous crime including the victim’s phones were also recovered in their possession and registered as exhibits. A case under investigation after which the suspects and their accomplices would be brought to book.
The Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang, FDC once again reiterates his clarion call that there is no hiding place for Criminals in Anambra State and that the Command under his watch will continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the State.
