Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has posited that Anambra State is currently lagging in the politics of Nigeria.
The governor asserted the second APC stakeholders meeting in Awka, the capital of Anambra state on Saturday, January 23.
Governor Uzodimma who recounted the remarkable feats achieved by Anambra people in National Politics in the past, as well as present status as trailblazers, pathfinders and role models in commerce and industry, thought it highly regrettable and unfortunate that many years after the civil war should lag in politics at the national level.
He called on the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party in Anambra State to bury the hatchet and embrace peace so that the state can reclaim its pride of place as trailblazers in national politics by becoming part of Nigeria’s mainstream politics.
Uzodimma urged them to mend fences and forge a new path for APC in Anambra, stressing that the party cannot make any meaningful impact in the South-east without Anambra, as he encouraged the party members to participate in the upcoming revalidation and registration massively.
He harped on the need for the party to ensure it wins the November 6 2021, gubernatorial elections, as he assured the people that there would not be an imposition of any candidate on the party, that the party will recognize whoever the people choose as flag bearer.
Earlier, in a remark, Senator Ken Nnamani, the representative of South East in the national caretaker committee of the party, said that Uzodimma’s emergence has given impetus to APC and has galvanized it in the South East in such a way that has brought respect and acceptance to the party.
Nnamani expressed elation at the level of enthusiasm shown by the Anambra people for APC which has now become a household name.
Also, the APC state chairman for Anambra, Sir Basil Ejidike in his welcome address applauded the unrelenting reconciliation efforts of Governor Uzodimma in the five states as the coordinator of the party’s reconciliatory efforts in the South-East zone.
Sir Ejidike noted that this was particularly timely and necessary coming in an Election year for the state, as the party was optimistic of winning the polls.
Present at the stakeholders meeting included, past and serving Senators, Federal Representatives, Ministers, state and national party executives from the zone among others.
