Nigerian Man Sets Degree, NYSC Certificates Ablaze Over Poor Salary
A frustrated Nigerian graduate has set his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and university degree certificates on fire due to an unsatisfactory take-home salary at his new job.
A frustrated Nigerian graduate has set his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and university degree certificates on fire due to an unsatisfactory take-home salary at his new job.

Speaking in anguish in a viral video, he explained that he was offered an N95,000 salary at a new establishment, which doesn’t cover his expenses monthly, considering the high cost of transportation and other things.
He wondered how he would spend 7 years in the University to collect a salary that could not take care of him or set him up for the future.

“It took me 7 years to get these certificates. My dream is to be a musician, but for so many years I didn’t see any success, so I decided to look for a job. I went for an interview and they said my salary would be N95k. I spent N3k on transport to and fro. That means I would be spending N60k mostly on transportation, so my take-home at the end of the day is N35k. How would I spend 7 years in university and be collecting that?”
In a shocking reaction, he returned home and set his NYSC discharge certificate and university degree certificate on fire.
