The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has intercepted two drug traffickers, Elvis Uche Iro and Uwaezuoke Ikenna Christian at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja the 19th of March 2022.
53-year-old Iro from Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State and 42-year-old Uwazuoke from Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra Stareexcreted 165 wraps of cocaine at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja.
While Iro ingested 65 pellets of Cocaine which weighs 1.376kg, Uwazuoke ingested 100 pellets of Cocaine which weighs 2.243kg.
Speaking on the reason for trafficking drugs, Iro who was arrested upon his arrival to Nigeria on Ethiopian Airline flight from Addis-Ababa revealed that he was an interior decorator but needed money to start coffee business and take care of his family and business.
Mr Uwaezuoke, who was arrested on the same flight, stated that he travelled to Addis-Ababa on the 17th of March 2022 to return on the 19th of March 2022 to buy the drug. He revealed that he sold his land in the village and took loans from family and friends to buy the drug for $10,000.
He also stated that his major reason for going into drug trafficking was to raise money after he was duped by his friend who lives in China.
