About four persons have died and seven were injured after the Zaria Central Mosque collapsed on Friday while the victims were observing prayers.
According to the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli who spoke to Politics Nigeria, revealed that the mosque developed a crack on its wall and was planning to deploy a team of civil engineers to ascertain the damage.
“We had earlier observed a crack on the wall of the mosque yesterday and were planning to deploy a team of civil engineers to effect repairs when this unfortunate incident happened.”
While condoling with families victims, the Emir advised worshippers to pray outside the mosque pending when the repairs will be done.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers have been conducted for the deceased.
