Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial District election, against Senator Ohara of the All Progressive Congress who was declared winner.
Barrister Natasha who won with 54,354 votes against 51,291 votes of the APC was declared the winner by the election tribunal on Wednesday.
Reacting to the announcement, Natasha wrote; “We WON!!!
Victory for Kogi Central at the tribunal by God
Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan of PDP declared winner of the Senatorial Election 2023.”
The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice K. A. Orjiako, who read the unanimous judgment of the three-man panel, said Ohere results were inflated in nine polling units of Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA) while that of Natasha was intentionally reduced in those areas.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declaration arguing that she won the election having polled the highest lawful votes.
