President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the need for African countries to break free from drug barons and illicit syndicates plunging the continent into ruin.
While urging them to take immediate strong action against narcotic substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, President Tinubu who was allegedly indicted in narcotics which led to the forfeiture of $460,000 to the United States called for regional partnership to end drug syndicates.
President Tinubu who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, delivered these remarks during the 31st meeting of the Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Africa (HONLAF), held in Abuja on Tuesday.
He commended the agencies, stressed cooperation, and called for regional partnerships to counter drug syndicates.
In response, the Chairman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), reiterated the commitment to global drug control through international collaboration.
