Shehu Sani, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central has lambasted Northern leaders for their silence on insecurity plaguing the North during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari despite holding the key security positions in the country.
Mr Sani stated this after Northern Leaders condemned the bombing mishap in the Tundun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State by Nigeria Air Force and demanded compensation to the families of the victims by the Nigerian Government.
“Northern Leaders have the constitutional right to criticize the President and hold him to account for the security situation in the North, but it’s too early to forget how all the key security and Defence positions in the country were held by Northerners for eight years but failed to end the scourge of killings and kidnappings in the north. Trillions were wasted with no result, and the then President kept extending their tenure in office.”
Mr Sani who has been vocal about the antics of the federal government stated that it was unconscionable and unacceptable to kill over a hundred people in the guise of mistaken identity.
He stated that human lives must be protected and the horrible ‘mistake’ should never be taken lightly.
Recall that the military has taken responsibility for the airstrike mistake stating that the area was always overburdened with terrorists. He said the worshippers were mistaken for bandits.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
